SAP Requirements for production of Predicted Energy Assessments (PEAs) & On Construction Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)

Since SAP calculations are based upon a desk top exercise and not a site survey, it is critical that the correct information is submitted in order that a calculation can be undertaken.  The following is a suggested list of the information sources and data items required:

Information Sources - in either dwg, pdf or paper format

• Site plan to include orientation of the dwelling(s) ie North Point
• Plans of each storey or floor plans, usually at 1:50 scale
• Elevation drawings of each building type
• Section drawing(s) representative of the dwelling showing storey heights etc
• Written specification describing the construction elements and services as per data items below

Data Items

• Site address and postcode
• Details of principle heating and hot water system to include make and model of boiler, details of heating emitters, hot water cylinder size, system controls
• Details of any secondary heating (if applicable)
• Details of ventilation systems
• Details of the internal and external lighting
• Details of the construction of all different heat loss elements (walls, ground floors and roofs) including thickness and type of insulation used
• Details of the doors and windows to include sizes, type of frame, type and thickness of glazing
• Details of any renewable technologies utilised such as photovoltaics, ground source heat pumps
